Julie Vaughn, owner of Have Uke ~ Will Travel is a singer, songwriter, entertainer, musician and ukulele instructor. For many years Julie has worked as a professional singer and musician playing guitar and fronting many bands of different genres in venues all over the San Francisco Bay Area. A shoulder injury in 2007 changed Julie's life forever when she was no longer able to work her day job or play her guitar for for very long. Then Julie picked up a ukulele one day and she knew it was meant to be. The ukulele quickly became her salvation and her calling and ultimately became her trademark. In 2011 Julie won 1st place in a singing competition "Menlo Idol" which was run by a local eatery. Her original song The Big Butt Blues was the hit of the finale show of the contest. Julie also spent 2 & 1/2 years as host at a weekly open jam session At Bobby D's in Redwood City CA where local musicians would show up to play. Julie's had a YouTube channel since 2008 which has over 50 video's of Julie performing at various venues and events as well as from her living room and yard.
Born and raised in the Bay Area she calls East Palo Alto Home and when not performing or teaching enjoys caring for her koi fish pond, her cats and her chickens. Whether in the role of entertainer, jam organizer, or instructor she is personable and fun and professional.
